These hand-knitted mittens made of Shetland wool are two pairs in one.
They are worked in a double-face technique, i.e. double-knitted, so that the two sides of the knitted fabric appear mirror-inverted.
The two sides are firmly connected. This makes the gloves tight and warm.
But not only this refined technique, but also the yarn make these reversible mittens a very special accessory. The wool of the Shetland sheep provides yarns that are among the most exclusive in the world. It is particularly soft, silky shiny and very light with excellent warmth. So warm hands in these gloves are actually a “must”.
The pictures show the gloves with a white pattern on an erika background and then turned over with an erika pattern on a white background.
So that the mittens accompany you for many years:
– wash them only by hand in plenty of lukewarm water, using a wool detergent and moving them gently without pressure
– Then rinse them thoroughly
– squeeze them in a towel after washing without rubbing or rubbing
– dry the mittens lying down
Shetland wool is a natural product and is not chemically finished, but still possesses all its excellent properties. This includes the ability to felt, but unfortunately also the palatability for moths. Lavender flowers or sandalwood are a proven protection against the pests, which I recommend for storage.
Note on textile labelling: 100 % virgin wool (original Shetland)
