These warm, soft, and beautiful mittens are durable and finely crafted: not only are they functional here and now, but they will last a lifetime (and beyond) with proper washing and storing.
My process: I knit these mittens entirely by hand, using my own handspun (by me) yarn. The yarn is 100% wool from our own flock of Romney-cross sheep, either undyed (the dark gray and white) or hand-dyed and blended (the variegated pink-orange, which I call sunset). (think of how much time I have spent, and how much fun I have had making these!!)
This pattern is my own modification and combination of several classic Scandinavian mitten patterns, with some cute snowflakes on the backs of the hands and snazzy diamonds on the palms. The cuffs are made of a ribbing that alternates between sunset and light gray. The thumbs are sunset-colored. Adorable! Because of the stranded knitting, the effect is that these are extra-warm and thick.
These lovely mittens fit a unisex medium hand.
There is only one pair of these mittens. I am happy to consider custom orders – PM me to discuss.
