Fight both the cold and the patriarchy this winter!
The theme for these mittens has been brewing in my head since I started knitting, but the pattern itself was born during the Swedish election in autumn 2014. The pattern sales have exceeded my wildest dreams – but not everyone is or knows a knitter, so I have knit a few pairs for sale.
Gudrun mittens feature the classic feminist symbol, combining the Venus symbol with the raised fist which signals unity and strength. They are hand knit by the designer, using high quality sock yarn consisting of 75% superwash wool and 25% nylon. This makes the mittens warm and breathable, very hard-wearing, and machine washable so you don’t have to worry about getting your hands dirty.
These mittens are sized women’s medium, with a hand circumference of appr. 20 cm (8 inches). They have a long cuff to keep your wrists from getting cold, and a thumb gusset for a perfect fit.
I share my home with two cats, and although I try to keep the yarn and the kitties separately, I cannot guarantee that the mittens are completely free of cat hair.
I try to represent the colours as accurately as I can, but please keep in mind that all monitors differ, and that the colour you see on your screen may be slightly different from the actual colour of the mittens.
