Handmade mittens by me in real Lovikka yarn (100% wool) in the traditional way.
Lovikka yarn is a special yarn used to knit mittens that are thick, warm and cosy. In my gloves, I use a Swedish-made Lovikka yarn. The wool is from Swedish sheep and is undyed. The black yarn comes from black sheep.
There are measurements of the gloves in the listing among the pictures. The measurements are for the gloves.
I usually describe the difference between size 0 and 1, that size 0 is for slim hands (women) and size 1 is for normal hands (women). Size 2 is for a normal man or a big woman hand.
I’m Sámi from my grandmother’s side. My grandmother was a Sámi from Swedish Lapland and lived near the village Lovikka in Northen Sweden. She learned to knit these mittens in a traditional way and then she taught me how to knit and make them. She loved to knit. You always saw her whit a knitting project, socks, hats, mittens and jumpers.
Wonderful mittens according to old swedishtraditions.
They are decorated with a beautiful embroidery at the wrist, with hanging tassels. I will embroiderthem in the sami color red, blue and yellow.
Red is for the sun, blue is for the moon. Green and yellow represents nature and the animals in the Sámi culture.
I have washed and brushed them with a special wool card (my grand-mother’s) on the outside and inside which makes them super soft and warm.
I will make the mittens just for you so therefore it will take a few days before I can send them to you.
